SONGS FROM THE VOID

Join us on Saturday, March 1 at 7:45 pm for an evening of new Jewish music, mysticism, and mishegas with Darshan!

On this very special evening, come together for Havdalah and be mesmerized as Darshan shares songs from its albums: RAZA, a radical reimagining of the mystical poetry of Kabbalat Shabbat, and its newest album, SONGS FROM THE VOID, a cycle of songs inspired by the paradigm-shifting teachings of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov.

About the Artists

Darshan is a collaboration between world-soul superstar Basya Schechter (Pharaoh’s Daughter) and polymathic poet and rapper Eden Pearlstein (ePRHYME). Blending poetic rap commentary and musical midrash, Darshan breathes new life into ancient Hebrew and Aramaic texts — sampling, remixing, and creatively transforming mystical Jewish teachings and prayers into a truly unique form of Sacred Pop Art.

Eden Pearlstein

is a poet, performer, and cofounder of Ayin Press. Over the past two decades, he has created an eclectic portfolio of audio, visual, textual, and curatorial works and projects — including 12 albums of original music. Eden is the author of Nothing is for Everyone: Poems and the chapbook, In/Flux: On Influence, Inspiration, Transmission, and Transformation. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife and two children.

Basya Schechter

has been a creative force in Jewish music and communal life for the past two decades. From her groundbreaking world music ensemble, Pharaoh’s Daughter, to her Songs of Wonder project, which sets the Yiddish poetry of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel to stunning neo-hasidic compositions, to her Hazzanut for the Romemu community in NYC, and beyond, Basya is a vital wellspring of song and spirit.
