Can Jewish Constitutionalism Speak Meaningfully to American Constitutionalism for American Jews?

In this class, we will explore and compare two foundational constitutional systems: the U.S. Constitution and the Torah. We will understand the two constitutions through an analytic paradigm provided by the late Yale Law Professor, Robert Cover. We will return to and extend Cover’s reflections on the two constitutional systems and argue that Jewish constitutionalism can indeed help American Jews think about American constitutionalism. No legal training whatsoever necessary.
